- Fertilize your lawn more frequently in the fall/winter months, right before your lawn goes dormant. It needs food fast, so it draws up a food fertilizer from your soil to help it "hibernate" for the the three months of winter. If you want your lawn to be the nicest on the block, give it a head start, and fertilize once in end of September and once in the middle of October/into mid-November.
- "Fall is for planting." One of the best times to install trees and shrubs is while they are dormant.
